Running In The Rain;

Didn't think I would go running this morning it looked pretty wet out side, Getting into my running gear making sure the jacket had a little water repellent on it, but running in the mild rain we had today didnt make much different with the perspiration and rain you were just as wet outside your jacket as you were inside the jacket, Getting to coronation sg their was a group of runners waiting and ready to hit the road before it got to wet everyone must have wondered if the rain would stop,once we were on the way, with lots of talking back and forth to keep your mind off the weather, It wasnt cold and it felt good to be out running, with the heavy rain fall we had there were a fair amount of puddles we manoeuvred around only to get our feet wet once we got closer to Chemainus one of the culverts must have been plugged and water was going over the road 3 inches deep then we had to make a mad dash past this before a car game or else we would have been drenched seeing the drivers didnt care if we were in the middle of the water course, I didnt hear any one hollering so we all made it through We had a new runner with us today and he wanted to do a 24 k.m run he had set his gar min watch to run a 5:30 per k.m pace. He soon found out that this pace was a bit to slow seeing we were doing a 5:10 pace .we ran with him to the turn around by the Best Western in Chemainus. He kept an sharp eye on his watch as it beeped at him every k.m reminding him he was going faster then his planned pace. Running back from Chemainus we split up Dollie and the marathoner and me and the young guy, I tried not to speed up to much all at once, seeing we had a good 10k.m to go yet , we stayed side by side my partner making sure I wasnt getting to far ahead Once up the lagoon hill I new we didnt have far to go and told him only 3km to go , I slowly picked up the pace and once past Gourley Park we were both  going a bit faster , I wasnt sure at the start if I could run this distance comfortable, never knowing how far I usually run and not keeping track just enjoying the surroundings. and feeling lucky that I can do this. Run Hard-- Run Smart.

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
