My Stride

Going to the bottom of cliff rd in Duncan , I headed to drinkwater rd This stretch off the run was mostly on sidewalks so I had to watch my footing with all the drops for different driveways . Getting to Drinkwater rd the road was narrower and here the traffic could be a nuisance, I Passed a new section of the trans Canada trail along this stretch , I will have to run it an other day to see were it goes, Coming to the hill on this stretch always gets me out of breath and it did this time also coming to the top past North rd it was down hill, and i was able to get my breath back, Reaching hw 18, I turned left and i had only planned on going as far as Satlam road and back to Duncan. Instead i went straight along the hw and once i committed myself to doing this I thought it best to conserve my energy by changing the way I was running And i chose to extend my stride. A longer stride I do by jumping farther with each push-off, By Jumping I mean you kind off propel yourself forward pushing off with the ball of my feet in an forward motion, always pushing off when your feet are in the centre of your body , keeping my arm movement in a relaxed motion. Not throwing my legs and feet forward using my quads. Running in this extended stride I find I can control my pace and speed better , my breathing also had to be more controlled so I took deeper and longer breaths, not knowing how far I had to run to Hillcrest road on the hw I thought it best to have an long easy stride , I guess that is why the down hills seemed to have an incline I should have used a bit shorter stride, finding my way back to the trans Canada trail once I reached Hillcrest rd it was down hill all the way to Duncan. Train Hard-- Train Smart.

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
