Snow running

This morning I didn't know if I should bundle myself up so i could hardly move or wear light clothing that would wick out the sweat and retain the heat , so I decided for a couple of smart wool shirts and a polyester undershirt this was light and loose fitting and kept me warm and wicked the dampness away from me so that I didn't feel the dampness from sweating and the snow that was falling on me, my runners that i used were a medium priced asic  trail running shoe[ toeon] It has lots of gel cushioning in it but I find that running on rocky terrain it has too much flex and the shank isn't  hard enough and on top of that running through water puddles my feet stay wet and the running shoe doesn't  repel the water like my old  trail running shoe. so it's okay for ordinary trails but for rougher trail running it would suck.  Running this morning i ran along the road a bit at first and found the snow was pushed well off the road and the traction was good not slippery at all but running along the trans Canada trail the snow was 4 or more inches and running in the snow takes more work . I found that i have to take shorter steps in the snow and instead of running where people had walked I chose to run where there were no foot steps and in the softer snow this way I was making my own trail. Running in the beaten trail made by other people I found that It was slippery and your feet keeps on sliding into different foot steps this would give your ankles a good work out , and it would  be easy to twist your ankles  with your feet sliding all over the place. Although we don't have sub zero weather you still have to watch your breathing , with the colder air your lungs also get cold and even wearing a higher collar to keep over your mouth or nose to have the air warm up a bit,  breathing in cold air reduces the air sacks in your lungs and the cold dry air makes your throat dry out which dries out the flem in your throat which off course makes you cough a bit when you finish running in cold air so you have to change how you breathe. I did have a good run and didn't see too many people,  much to my surprise I did see a rabbit munching on some grass under a tree.  Run Smart --  Run Safe.

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
