A UP HILL RUN .

Sunday and an other week-went by, it seems time doesn't stand still on these warm days when we are busy running , going out in six man outrigger canoes or going out geo caching with the gps, and last of all house chores they seem to be left on the way side, Went out with the striders this morning and we did a course we hadnt run for awhile, running from coronation square at sea level to the power lines which is a steady climb to just above Ladysmith, we were thankful for the shade and every so often a gust of wind would refresh us there were around six of us doing this course , and the remainder of the group ran along Chemainus road towards Chemainus and back again, our group did a loop and once we ran along the power line we connected with the old logging road which took us to the diamond just outside of ladysmith running along the railway tracks we went underneath the hwy to ran along western forest product mill side , then Ladysmith marina and along the shore on an refurbished railway bed made into a walking path, this takes to kinsman beach and we were able to run along the path starting to veer up wards again to a tunnel underneath the hwy this way we could cross the hwy and not be seen by the traffic busy roaring around above us this takes you through an duplex site and we connected to Dog wood? we turned left here and headed back to Coronation square covering just over 12 k.m in one hour and six minutes , so that wasn't bad for a relaxing run first thing in the morning, The first half of the run was mostly uphill and here I focus on a shorter stride and if the hill isn't to long or steep i try to do a faster turn over so that I dont get in the habit of swaying back and fort when Im running ," I think you do the swaying bit if you stay on one foot too long", When running up hill I concentrate in landing on my mid or fore foot , which when you lean forward should be a natural thing , plus if I have a shorter contact time with the ground my tendons and muscles in my legs should propel me faster forward, This they cant do if I keep my feet on the ground to long. RUN HARD ____ TRAIN SMART..

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
