chemainus twilight shuffle

It was a good thing that the rain didn't appear because their was a big crowd waiting for the start of the twilight shuffle to start, the weather was great for racing and over 500 racers were going full blast when the gun went of to start the 7 p.m race,I started close to the front so had a good start maybe to good seeing I was in with the Fast crowd and they pulled me along till my legs were hollering at me to slow down and wanting to know what I was doing , yes I tried to keep up with the guys in front and I did manage to do this for a few feet till they pulled away from me with each step they took. I was doing great till the first hill( some one mentioned the other day that we as striders are se-posed to be hill climbers) , I guess we better start training with racing up hills and slowing on the down hills, The hill going back from the first loop had me sweating and once on top the trick was too keep your pace going and not to slow down for a rest and not to have to many people pass you , running into the mill site another little hill and then the rough gravel you had to run through till you came to the exit gate were you turned unto Bare point road, you were never running alone and their was always some one to pass or being passed this makes it had because you always have different paces and people around you I found the course tough and I could,nt really get a good stride going mainly because the difference in the terrain Oh man it sounds like excuses, It seems the best thing to do is to keep too your own comfort level and not try to outdo everyone my placing was was 45 overall and my time 20:46 for the 5 k.m race so im still pleased put not satisfied with the time, A great race and they had lots of jelly beans and cookies after the race and bottled water for refreshments ,Run Safe

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
