My Uphill Running

  • I started my up hill running  doing my hill work out last night along Holland creek and this morning running up departure bay road  which is a long gradual  climb to the trans Canada #1 , It took a bit off walking  from Brechan point this morning before my body was ready for the run but once I  was warmed up and into my stride things went better getting to the hill I concentrated on  cutting down my stride and tried to increase the  speed of my turnover I find reaching forward to far with my legs I loose power , also my arm swing  was relaxed  beside me, not swinging across my body in front of me, making sure i lifted my legs high enough, so that with a slight lean from the hips my legs fell forward enough so that my running wasn't choppy or to short if you don't lift your knees high enough you lose speed and energy .I know that with running uphill it's hard to stay relaxed  because it seems your body is screaming at you to give it a break your legs are aching and your arms and shoulders are sore from you moving them and keeping them tensed up . But relaxing is an important when your running uphill or any were,Let your legs   with the help of your arms do the work don't tense up your shoulders and arms , I also try to breath deeper with my mouth open not just through my nose ,this way you can get more oxygen into your lungs,  I know if I don't get enough air I cant run but also that I will be able to  recover my breathing at the top as long as there is a easier stretch ,  Train Right. Train within your limit,

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
