The Way I saw It.

Last Saturday night the striders were out in full force, putting up chairs and tables for the big hoopla that was going to happen Sunday morning , there were some anxious moments at the computer table when one of the computers wouldn't recognize its fellow computer and after some hair pulling and silent curses. the three computers were able to match up, and with a sigh of relieve and having their fingers crossed they shut everything down and
left for home . Only to be back early the next morning to get ready for the Cinnamon Bun Run, which is a big event in Ladysmith to raise food for the food bank in Ladysmith The entry fee for the race was five cans of food , and if you where closest to your predicted time you would be able to pick your price from the table and also be the winner, So this made it more of an enjoyable event  there where lots of draw prizes - and Cinnamon bun run shirts for sale with the money going to the food bank. Running Room from nanaimo had a little boutique in the hall with all the latest Gps -and hearth rate watches, and all the shiny new runners to entice you into buying something guaranteed  to make you a better and faster runner,  I was the designated   course marshall , but seeing Bruce who is one of the organizer did all the recruiting for me.I was able to show up and make sure that every one of the course Marshall's were at their place so that they could direct traffic and make sure the runners and walkers were going the proper route. You could do a five or ten k.m run with the walkers doing the five k.m,  driving along the route i was able to see how the participants and helpers were  doing and to let the organizers know where the last walkers and runners were on the course. It seemed that the roads where a bit slippery in spots but everyone had been forewarned about slippery sections . there was lots of camaraderie and talking no one seemed like they were in a big race but with the couple of hills in the  course it was  tough for some people. They were rewarded at the end of the run, when entering the gym they saw a table full of boxes Cinnamon buns  and hot chocolate which wear heartily consumed, The results of the race were  compiled by the computer operators who  game up with the correct times  after having to delete the no shows{ people that hadn't run or didn't finish}. A lot of work had been done by the main directors of the run to organize this event , There is John -- Kim-- Bruce - Cris . Its is nice to have these hard working people in your community- And our big sponsor from LCU Insurance Agencies Ltd who every year helps us to get Insurance  to start the CINNAMON BUN RUN

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
