Tapering For a Race

Seeing I have my race on Sunday I have cut back on my running and started this a few weeks ago , although not everyone thinks you have to taper for a shorter race, I like to think that if you are going for a faster pace, or for any pace, tapering helps to heal micro tears and may provide time for tendinitis in lower body joints to heal . and the lng the taper it also helps to re energize the metabolic systems by promoting storage of glycogen , which you depleted with your  hydration and hard training. Making sure you drink enough fluids starting a couple of days before the race. A good night sleep before the race is also recommended although i find a good night sleep two nights before the race is important because you are usually in a rush the night before and you have to get up early so everything is out of  whack the night before. Not running everything seems to go wrong because you aren't being active, you try out different shoes which buggers up you feet , or your knees start getting little aches in them All this just before you race  so you wonder were you went wrong , most of this is a mind thing and you have to but this behind you and stay positive knowing that you trained as well as you could

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
