the sooke 10km race proved to be a bit hillier then I had anticipated, but seeing I had planned on not going out hard it turned out all right I probably started in the middle of the pack and once every one started to move you realized that the race had started, starting at this spot you seemed to start at a nice controlled tempo and I was able to tuck in behind Dave Horne from Ladysmith him being much bigger then me , so he was able to find a path through the crowd for me as long as I stayed at his pace, this seemed to work out great for me and I kept this up for a good one and one half a km,at this spot we parted company picking up the pace a bit and was able to catch up to Gary Vermette , also a Ladysmith Strider, after abit of a chat we parted company this part of the race had been a gradual down hill and I wasn't looking for the last five k.m which was just the reverse by having a long uphill much like the Lagoon hill in Saltair but I think the sooke hill was a bit steeper. I kept on looking for the flat stretch of the running route I must have blinked because I mist it , because the race was over and I still hadnt seen it. After the race Gail and I drove to French beech just before Jorden river and the start of the Juan De Fuca west coast trail.More race results at www.ladysmithstriders.com
