Running -hiking- climbing

I believe we did it all this morning going up the face of hall Mt on the heart lake trail which is a steep trail with some panoramic views of Mt baker and the gulf isl and not to forget the town of lady smith that was down below us. barely awake at this time of the morning seeing we had begun our run at 7a.m there was a good turn out as we had 6 runners starting out above Batie drive and going north from here we soon came to the steep trail that would take us up to heart lake. going up the trail it didn't take us long to turn from a run to a climb with every one of us breathing deeper to get that energy and taking the occasional drink of fluid that each of us took along, the trail up was dry and slippery with all the dust that had collected there from all the previous hikers going up the trail. reaching the rock bluff that overlooks the gulf isl and distant mt we took a moment to rest and take in some more fluids. by this time we were about 3/4 ways up the mt and it didn't take us long to make it to the summit and Heart Lake, taking the trail on the north side of heart lake we made short work of getting to the stocking lake trail. The trail to stocking lake is a narrow quad trail with a few up and downs. we ran with heads down having to watch out for sticks, rocks and deep ruts left by quads going to heart lake. Running along the west side of stocking lake is a nice single track trail which twists up and down goes around trees and over trees ,around rocks but it is a good change of pace from running along the road , the trail around the lake is soft and bouncy and I enjoy running along this part of the trail. Running along we made it to the trail going down to the chicken ladder by Holland creek , you could almost call this part of the run a sand trail seeing once you get past the rocky part of the trail you have a sandy section right in the middle of nowhere , must have been left there by the glaciers. I took a bunch of pictures during the run and not checking my setting before I left, to make it short they turned out kind of 'eh not so good'

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
