Welcome to my blog. I started this blog to talk about the running and hiking that I do and just ramble along about the things I enjoy.. Nothing’s impossible, I have found -- For when my chin is on the ground ----- I pick myself up, dust myself off, And start all over again—

Running Or Paddling
My running has started to take a back seat with my activities and I find myself going with Gail to Nanaimo and paddling . The other day we had three six man outriggers out in the water so there was a good turnout . Tonight we had two six man boats out with five people in each boat and also a four man outrigger with four man in the boat, On Tuesday night we went out to snake Island and ended up scaring the seals that were getting settled for the night Its a tiny island out side of Departure bay and after circling the Island we turned to New Castle and Protection isl We wouldn't have many chances of going out there again with the weather and wind getting more forceful with winter weather coming, It was relative calm Tuesday night . tonight we did a figure eight around Newcastle and Protection and coming back through the pass between the islands we ran into a bit of wind , enough to pick up some spray and water from the boat and paddles , which feels kind of refreshing Just like running into a head wind, Ruth our steer person was setting the pace for us and let us know if we were getting out of stroke or if we should reach out more when we put our paddles in the water,so that we would pull more water,We also did a few turns by paddling up to buoy and making a 180 degree turn I think she was getting ready for a race she is going to in Victoria, I'm sure if she had a whip she would be cracking it over our heads. Had a bit of a run into an other boat tonight and our Amah was climbing up into the other boat I think if the other people in the other boat had been thinking they could have pushed the Amah away from their boat and it would have been alright , instead we all shouted at each other to watch where we were going, Some time the outriggers go pretty fast and you get to an object before you know it , nothing exciting happened after that and we all kept our distance although it is good to have something like this happen I'm sure that when you are racing you re aim it to get to a turn first and have that advantage of getting past something, if you get in the way a few bumps and curses follow you, Ill have to apologize to my skip that we had tonight I called her a slave driver , I hope she knows that I was only kidding. We did get our cardio up and had a good workout. Although Gail's boat beat us to the end. On Saturday Gail and I peddled our bikes to Maple mt and tried a few mt Bike trails I found out that not having done any single track bike riding that my self confidence was lacking going over some wet roots and dodging in between fallen trees and shale rock trying different trails we turned back to Croftan and a bike ride back to Saltair.

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
