The Outrigger

It seems the steam has kind of left the sail when it concerns running and my millage has slipped a bit lately . I have exchanged my runners for a hidde paddle a nice light bent paddle fiber glassed with a foam core not as light as a carbon fibre  but it has withstood the  punishment that Gail and I seem to put it through so when I go to brechin point with Gail instead of going for a run I go in the outrigger and go for a couple of hours paddling  around newcastle island or to five finger and shack island   It never seems  that you have calm water when you go out for a paddle and some time the waves wind and tide seem to test you when youre pulling all you can and you seem to inch forward facing waves that would make you turn around and run back to shore as fast as you can sometimes the alma comes up and you mutter to you re selves for it to stay in the water If it comes up to high  the centre person paddling by the Alma is supposed to lean on the alma to make it go down  this hassened happened yet. [ although a few times I wondered] But you do get an andrenalin rush when youre paddling along with the wind and waves blowing passed you  and straining in my life jacket reaching forward and pulling , watching the curls in the water flow past the canoe from the paddlers in front off you as they strain and listen for the' hut' an the ego ' ahoe'  and you pull youre paddle out to switch and pull on the other side of the  outrigger . I found this interesting page  primal living in a modern world

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
