West wood lake relay Race

Some one hollering Go, or was it the count down from five, four, three, two, one, and they were of before the announcer had the words out of his mouth. Starting on the road way and quickly going on the trail around west wood lake, our starting runner John was keeping his momentum going but having to look out for the runners around him as they all seemed to get to the narrow trail going around the lake not able to see the roots or uneven trail there was a bit of bumping and flailing of arms to balance one self getting in each others way getting a bit past the k.m mark and going around the corner, you were surprised to see a hill, and I thought this was a flat course, oh well I'm sure it thinned out the runners for John, getting to the top of the hill you were directed to turn left which seemed strange as this trail wasn't used as much, going a bit further as John describes it there is a small creek and you only have to take four steps at the most to get across this creek and it only goes a little past your calves,I think Johns legs must have grown a foot or two because it seemed wider and deeper when I got there plus it toke me more then four steps , coming out of the creek it was hard to get going again, it seemed you were dragging a bag of cement on each leg, and it took a couple of km to get the water out of your shoes while you were running but At least the trail was flat here and it wasn't till the five km that you looked at a hill steeper then Simons street in Ladysmith John mountain runner made it up this hill but i ended having to walk a few steps before getting to the top and a nice down hill followed us here till we ended up at the finish line, where Jon tagged Dave and dave tagged Phil an then Phil tagged me we did the relay in 1:42 min and are quite pleased with our time and finish.Run Hard-- Run Smart.

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
