Tuesday's Run

Running under the canopy from the trees along Holland creek on monday night , there was still enough light around 6;30 p.m  the days are getting longer and running in the evening is getting better I was glad to get to the Mackie rd cut off here I was able to see the road and the road grade was going downhill all the way along Malone and Dunsmuir to 6 'th from there it was only a short way to the community centre and a ride home. Tuesday running with the saltair group we ran our usual 12 km loop through Saltair, Stocking creek Park and Back to Balla and Pauline' house. Phill and Dolly  who were running with us had already ran from the other side off Ladysmith to saltair an good 10 km run and continued running with us, during our run sore calve muscles were mentioned and these are usually microscopic tears in the muscle and depending on the severity, usually shortening the workouts--- intensity and the length of your running helps to heal the injury , also  stretching  the calve muscle either by standing on stairs and pushing down with the heal till you feel the pull in the calve muscle or you could stand facing a wall from a foot away, leaning against the wall with your hands and reaching back with one leg til you feel the calve muscle pull then reversing the exercise with the other leg , you could make this exercise harder by placing a towel our a book under your toes of the foot that you are standing on . Using an ice pack or a  compression sock helps and more runners are using these socks . Well we were finished our run  Dollie not even breathing hard having completed 22 k.m, was running back to Ladysmith an other 10 km,  Here's to Pauline who 2 years in a row broke her age group running record  for the race, having decided while running that she should try to go faster because she thought she wasn't trying hard enough and ended up breaking the record she made last year. goes to show you that with some friendly persuasion we can push ourselves to try harder to accomplish a goal.

In running, it doesnt matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say,I have finished; There is a lot of satisfaction in having accomplished that goal, its a great feeling. Runnertwo
